First day in the gym…

I got a phone call last night about 6 or so and it was my neighbor, Mike, the one that’s helping me with the weight training. He heads to the gym every Saturday morning to be there at 8 a.m. when they open (the same gym I will be at for the Biggest Loser Challenge). He told me to be ready, he would come by and pick me up this morning and we’ll head to the gym. We got there right at 8 a.m. when they opened and we were the only ones there. Love that. I wasn’t intimidated at all. So I got in a really great workout and will be doing Lippy in just a bit to get some aerobic activity in as well.

The Challenge begins Tuesday. I’m a bit nervous and excited. It is really great to get out of the house though to workout. I can go downstairs here at home, but it doesn’t get me away from the kids and time to myself. This is going to be a nice break. The weather has been miserable here so I haven’t been able to walk outdoors at all either…I think I’m starting to feel really ‘couped up’. The weather shows it’s going to get up to 41 this week though, so maybe I’ll get out…

I said something outloud while at the gym and I’m surprised I didn’t fall over when it came out. Mike and I were talking about, I don’t even remember what, but he said not to worry about the scale. When you are weight lifting of course you lose inches because muscle is more condensed than fat, therefore you can weigh the same and still be smaller. Well, I had already known that, but after he got all that out, I said…outloud…get this…’I don’t even CARE about what the scale has to say anymore’…

I KNOW!

It was a ‘moment’ for me because I just stood there with my weights in my hands, stunned. Holy crap, I think I’m FINALLY learning.

    Lisa:

    It’s great that you have a friend that will help you with your workout. When I went back to the gym in January, I challenged a friend to meet me there every day and it has paid off. We’re not doing a contest, but we’r eboth committed to getting in better shape.

    Hi Lisa! Wow so proud that you said you didn’t care what the scales said. That’s a big progress there :) The weather here has been perfect since Friday. Can you believe it finally stopped raining, we were all in water up to our ankles :D It is now a perfect 15°C in the afternoons with big sunshine, and we’re only february… Bliss!

    Hi Lis!
    Good Luck in the challenge! I have considered doing it just to help me get to goal, but I have school on Tuesdays and would literally just be weighing in every week, which I already do. I keep going back and forth about it. I can’t wait to see you kick butt!! Love Julie
