It’s Friday. Family night in the Shaffer home. That means a family movie on dvd and most certainly pizza for dinner. I always know ahead of time how many pieces of pizza I can have to stay within points. But I usually take ALL of the pieces of pizza I’m allowed at once, and as usual, feel the need to clean my plate. Hungry or not.
Tonight I tried something different. I grabbed a small plate. I grabbed one slice of pizza and my glass of ice water and sat down. I ate the one piece, cleaning my plate, which quenched the crazy feeling that leaving food on my plate creates, and you know what? I was satisfied. I was no longer hungry. I wasn’t stuffed. I was satisfied.
What a crazy concept, huh?

I need to work on this. We had pizza the other night and although I ate less than a normally do, I still feel that I ate too much. I will have to try the small plate trick and see if that helps some. Pizza and sweets are my weaknesses! Thank you for sharing!

I always have the same compulsion. I always feel like I have to clean my plate. Maybe I should try this.
